Review: Big Sid's Vincati by Mathew Biberman

Summary: Big Sid Biberman has been popular for years as one of the premier Vincent tuners in this country. When he had a cardic arrest and lost the will to live, his son, Matthew, needed something to reignite this lost spark. While in the hospital, Matthew promised his Dad they would, together, build a Vincati. This book is the story of their quest to build the bike and reconstruct their rough relationship. The backdrop throughout the book focuses on how small and close-knit the Vincent community really is.

This is an engaging story of a son's love for a father, a son's wish that his dad might live forever. It is the true story of "Big Sid" Biberman, a legendary motorcyle mechanic who repaired old bikes. He worked on machines owned by many famous individual and in fact spent more time fixing broken pistons and bent steel than in repairing his own relationship with his son.

The book is an easy read with poignant story of a father-son relationship, not technical at all and a reminder that life’s challenges can lead to impressive results when faced head on.

  1. Wow, thanks for the review! But I got to say--no mention of Lucy! She's about to turn 8 and before you know it she'll probably be doing her own YA blog too!
